Summary

T001_PRINCE2_Reference_Chart

This is our famous PRINCE2 Desk Reference chart, which we use in our PRINCE2 Foundation courses. It covers all of the elements of the PRINCE2 project management method. It is intended to be printed on two A3 sheets, which should then be placed back-to-back and laminated, or just pinned to your wall as separate sheets.

T002_PRINCE2_Cross-Reference_Chart

This is the PRINCE2 Cross-Reference Chart that we use in our PRINCE2 Practitioner course. It shows when each PRINCE2 management product is created, updated or referenced across the PRINCE2 processes, as well as showing who has responsibility at each step. It is intended to be printed on an A3 sheet.

Tools and Templates

The following table lists management products that we have use in our PRINCE2 consulting engagements. The products tagged with an * are not PRINCE2 products, just ones we find useful.

The Templates themselves are free for anyone to download and use. In exchange for access to the Product Descriptions, we ask that you register on this site. We provide access to our set of fully worked examples of each document freely to people who have attended one of our courses, or else go to our Products page where you will be able to purchase the full set.

Just so that you know what is included in each set, we've made available the template, product description and worked example of a Project Brief, written against an imaginary project in fictitious organisation. Just scroll down into the table below.

To download the Templates (1.5Mb zip file), click here.

To get the Product Descriptions (1.7 Mb zip file), go here (but you must be registered and logged on).

To get the fully worked Examples (2 Mb zip file), go here (but you must be a past student and logged on).

To use a template:

  • Open the template you need.
  • Save it to your project repository, giving it the required filename and version number.
  • There are fields embedded in most templates that are intended to facilitate rapid configuration for use in a particular project, for example project name, stage, Executive, organisation, project manager. To use these embedded fields:
    • Select all text in the document by pressing the key sequence Alt H, SL, A
    • Update all fields by pressing F9 and entering data when prompted
    • MS Word will update all instances of these fields, and the filename, in the body of the document. Unfortunately, MS Word doesn’t update fields in headers and footers. To update fields in headers (project name, product name) and footers (filename), double click in the header or footer, then for each field, right click in the field and select the Update option.
    • Use the associated Product Description for guidance on how to complete the product. Refer to the associated Example document for a worked example.
