Overview

Project, Programme and Portfolio Office (P3O) is the latest guidance from OGC. A P3O model provides a decision enabling/delivery support structure for all change within an organisation. This may be provided through a single permanent office which may exist under several different names e.g. Portfolio Office, Centre of Excellence, Enterprise or Corporate Programme Office. It may otherwise be provided through a linked set of offices (portfolio office, programme offices, project offices), both permanent (enabling / supporting business objectives and consistency of delivery) and temporary (enabling / supporting specific programmes and projects), providing a mix of central and localised services.

OGC refresh each of their products on a 3 to 4 year cycle, to update and extend the product to ensure that it continues to represent good practice, as well as to remove any inconsistencies and defects that have been identified in the published manual for that product. The registration of P3O Practitioners expires 5 years after the date of registration, and may be renewed in a window between 3 to 5 years after that date. This is in alignment with international standards on accreditations, and ensures that registered Practitioners maintain their knowledge of the OGC product as it evolves.

This is an examination based course which leads to P3O re-accreditation at Practitioner Level. The course ensures that delegates understand the changes that have been made to the P3O framework since their last accreditated exam, and prepares them for the Reregistration Exam, which is a shorter version of the full Practitioner Exam.

Course Objectives

The Practitioner Reregistration Seminar will allow delegates to:

  • Understand the changes that have been made to P3O since the delegates last prepared for a Practitioner Exam.
  • Provide a forum for discussions around delegates practical experience of using P3O in the workplace, and the issues and lessons that have arisen.
  • Prepare for the Reregistration Examination.

Who Should Attend

This event is intended for Registered P3O Practitioners whose registration is about to expire.

Prerequisites

Delegates must be Registered P3O Practitioners.

Practitioner Reregistration Exam

The P3O Practitioner Exam is designed to test candidates’ ability to apply P3O concepts. It is in the same style as the Practitioner Eam, but is a much shorter exam.

The Practitioner exam is an 1 hour objective testing style paper. Candidates must answer 3 questions; each of the questions is worth 10 marks, giving a maximum of 30 marks in the paper. The pass mark is 50% (15 marks). Candidates may only take the P3O Guide into the exam room for reference during the exam.
