Overview

As organizations mature in their project management approach, project managers need to be continually introduced to the latest concepts. The content is cutting edge and is relevant across all industries. Portfolio and program management, and management of complex projects and people is covered extensively together with an examination of the knowledge areas in relation to real day to day problems faced by senior project managers. Aspects of leadership and other attributes needed to manage complexity are discussed along with roles and responsibilities.

Course Objectives

This course builds on the Diploma of Project Management. It is not just an extension from Managing projects to Directing projects. It stretches participants thinking way beyond traditional literature to cover new aspects of project management knowledge areas, which Senior Project Managers and Project Directors are seeking as they become more experienced in their roles and are facing new challenges.

Who Should Attend

This course is targeted at portfolio, programme and senior project managers, and those directing the activities of project managers.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to enrol, candidates must have experience in a senior project role. It is desirable that they have completed the BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management or equivalent or be able to demonstrate through evidence that they are performing the work at that level.

Course Content

There will be face-to-face sessions using a variety of learning formats, including lectures, group activities, DVDs, debates and group discussion.

Assessment

Participants will be required to provide a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competency at Advanced Diploma level and to undertake an Assessment Interview with a qualified work place assessor.

  • Lunch, and morning and afternoon refreshments

Duration

4 days of face-to-face training, followed by up to 5 coaching sessions with an Executive coach.

Public course, or in-house delivery for groups of 6 or more.
